Responsible Gambling Policy
This Responsible Gambling Policy applies to all gaming activities offered at Xeneri Hotelinsight, located in Ottawa, Ontario. This website is operated by , with its registered address at . We are committed to providing a safe, enjoyable, and responsible gaming environment for all of our guests.
Our Commitment
At Xeneri Hotelinsight, we believe that gambling should always be an enjoyable and entertaining experience. We take our responsibility to our guests seriously and are dedicated to promoting responsible gambling practices throughout our hotel and casino facilities.
We understand that for a small number of people, gambling can become a problem that affects their health, relationships, and financial well-being. Our team is trained to recognize the signs of problem gambling and to offer compassionate, non-judgmental support to anyone who may need it.
Our commitment to responsible gambling includes the following principles:
- Providing clear and accurate information about the risks associated with gambling.
- Supporting guests who wish to set personal limits on their gambling activity.
- Ensuring that our gaming environment remains safe and free from undue pressure to gamble.
- Actively working with national and international organizations dedicated to the prevention and treatment of problem gambling.
- Training all casino staff to identify and sensitively respond to signs of problem gambling.
- Never marketing our gambling services to vulnerable individuals or minors.
We encourage all of our guests to gamble responsibly and to think of gambling as a form of entertainment — not as a way to make money or to resolve personal or financial difficulties.
18+ Age Policy
Gambling at Xeneri Hotelinsight is strictly restricted to individuals who are 18 years of age or older, in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada.
We take our obligation to prevent underage gambling very seriously. Our casino staff are trained to request valid government-issued photo identification from any guest who appears to be under the age of 25. Acceptable forms of identification include:
- A valid Canadian driver's licence.
- A Canadian passport or travel document.
- A provincial or territorial identity card.
- A Permanent Resident Card.
- Any other government-issued photo identification that includes the holder's date of birth.
Any guest who is unable to provide satisfactory proof of age will be respectfully denied access to our casino floor and gaming areas. We appreciate your understanding and co-operation in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
If you are aware of any individual under the age of 18 who is attempting to access our gaming facilities, we encourage you to notify a member of our staff immediately.
Recognizing the Signs of Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or financial situation. It can develop gradually over time, and many people do not realize they have a problem until it has already had a significant impact on their lives. We encourage all guests to be aware of the warning signs and to seek help early.
You or someone you know may be experiencing problem gambling if you notice any of the following signs:
- Spending more money on gambling than you can comfortably afford to lose.
- Borrowing money or selling personal belongings to fund gambling.
- Feeling anxious, irritable, or restless when not gambling or when attempting to cut back.
- Gambling to escape stress, anxiety, depression, or other emotional difficulties.
- Lying to family members, friends, or colleagues about the extent of your gambling activity.
- Chasing losses by continuing to gamble in an attempt to win back money that has already been lost.
- Neglecting work, school, family, or social obligations because of gambling.
- Repeatedly trying and failing to reduce or stop gambling.
- Feeling a persistent preoccupation with gambling, such as constantly thinking about your next session.
- Experiencing financial hardship, including difficulty paying bills or meeting day-to-day expenses, as a result of gambling.
If you recognize any of these signs in yourself or someone close to you, please know that you are not alone. Help is available, and reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. Our staff are here to listen without judgement and to connect you with the appropriate support and resources.
Self-Exclusion and Player Tools
We offer a range of responsible gambling tools to help our guests maintain control over their gaming activity. We strongly encourage all guests to make use of these tools as a proactive measure, even if they do not currently feel that they have a problem.
Self-Exclusion Programme
Our self-exclusion programme allows guests to voluntarily request that they be banned from accessing our casino facilities for a defined period of time. Self-exclusion is a powerful tool for anyone who feels that they need to take a break from gambling or who is concerned about their gambling habits.
To apply for self-exclusion, please speak directly and confidentially with a member of our casino management team. We will treat your request with the utmost sensitivity and respect. Once a self-exclusion agreement is in place, our staff will make every reasonable effort to enforce it, including:
- Removing the individual from our casino mailing lists and promotional communications.
- Refusing entry to the casino floor for the duration of the agreed exclusion period.
- Retaining the individual's information securely to support the enforcement of the exclusion.
Self-exclusion periods are available for a minimum of six months and may be extended. If you would like to discuss self-exclusion or any other responsible gambling measure, please do not hesitate to speak with a member of our team or contact us in writing at .
In addition to our in-house programme, Ontario residents may also register for the province-wide self-exclusion programme through the Registrar of Alcohol, Cannabis and Gaming (AGCO).
Setting Personal Limits
We encourage all guests to set personal limits before they begin gambling. This includes deciding in advance:
- How much money you are prepared to spend (and treating this amount as the cost of entertainment, not as an investment).
- How much time you will spend gambling.
- That you will never gamble with money that is intended for essential living expenses, such as rent, groceries, or bills.
Taking a Break
If you feel overwhelmed or feel that gambling is no longer enjoyable, we encourage you to take a break. Our casino floor and all gaming areas include clearly marked exits and rest areas. You are always free to stop playing at any time, and our staff will never pressure you to continue gambling.
Reality Checks
Our staff are available to provide friendly reminders about how long you have been playing or how much you have spent, upon request. Please do not hesitate to ask.
Support and Helpline Numbers
If you or someone you care about is struggling with problem gambling, please reach out for help. There are many compassionate and confidential services available to you, free of charge. You do not need to face this alone.
